Referral Incentives: You Should Reward Your Staff
All your staff members have two jobs. Their first job is the one you hired them to do (reception, dental assistant, hygienist, etc). The second is acting as marketers and recruiters for your dental practice.
Your staff works hard with your patients every day. Without them, you would soon be out of business, for their work is a cornerstone of your practice. When they spread the word about your office and bring in new clients, they deserve to be rewarded.
Rewards can be made in numerous ways. Money is always welcome; perhaps a $50 bonus for each new client the staff member recruits. If cash doesn’t feel right to you then perhaps a gift certificate or dinner for two at an upscale restaurant or a program that allows them to accrue days off with pay (this is VERY popular).
The important thing is to make the reward something that the recipient wants and feels appreciated. Otherwise the reward is just a gesture that misses the mark. Be aware of your staff members as individuals. That way you’ll know how to tailor the reward to the person receiving it.
