Designing a New Dental Office – Consider the Interior Design Carefully
When you design a new office, give special consideration to the interior décor you choose. Your waiting room is the first in-person experience your existing (and occasionally your prospective) patients have. It should make them feel welcome, relaxed and comfortable.
There are several ways to approach interior design. One of the very best for business is a Chinese method called Feng Shui, pronounced “fung schway”. The Chinese have employed Feng Shui as a part of good business practices for centuries. The bell you hear upon entering many businesses today comes from the Feng Shui principle of keeping business owners safe by protecting them from being taken by surprise.
Aquariums are another Feng Shui principle, and an excellent one to apply in your dental office. Fish are relaxing to watch and water is a soothing element and people universally enjoy both.
Using soft colors and putting living plants and flowers in spaces where people wait are additional examples of excellent Feng Shui practices that always make people feel better, and both are especially valuable for patients who’ve had painful dental experiences in the past.
So when considering your new office décor, take a look at the good design practices of the past that will stand you in good stead today.
