Sending Patients Home with Education Print-Outs: It's Good for Business
People frequently ask about dental procedures they are considering having you do. While it's important to answer their questions, providing them with reference material on the procedure may be even more important.
Why? Because people rarely remember all the details of any conversation, let alone one in which information about a dental procedure is being transmitted. People can easily become confused by the sheer magnitude of wonderful cosmetic dentistry procedures available today.
They may not recall, say, the differences between a crown and a veneer, or a partial plate and a fixed bridge.
This is why you need to have printed material available that patients can take home with them to refresh their memories and answer questions they may not have thought to ask.
This kind of informational material is beneficial in another way as well. Let's say you have gotten a patient's mouth to the best possible state of health, but you know that a certain procedure you offer could make that patient's smile a lot nicer. Having printed information available allows you to bring this up in a general way and then say, "I've got a brochure on that here, why not take it home and read it?"
Either way, helping your patients learn more about their options can only help build your dental practice.
