The More you Educate Your Patients, The Easier it is to Convince them of Pricey Procedures
Pricey dental procedures aren't randomly priced; rather, they are priced in accordance with the degree of education and skill they require, the dental laboratory costs they involve and the benefits they provide to your patients.
Therefore, the more education about their teeth and gums that you provide to your patients, the easier it will be to explain the benefits of expensive procedures in terms that they already understand.
For example, let's say that you have a patient who needs to make a decision between having a crown put on a tooth that must be largely drilled out before a crown could be put on with any assurance that it would stay on, and having that tooth pulled and a dental implant installed instead.
If your patient understands that the degree of decay and problem that has already occurred in this tooth makes it impossible for you to provide an assurance that a crown is the best solution, making the decision will be a whole lot easier.
Sure, an implant is the more expensive option here, but if the crown is an iffy solution, your patient will understand that an implant is the better choice here. After all, who wants to undergo having a crown put on and then later face losing the tooth anyway?
